Outside Interests
Outside of the world of work Michael has a passion for mixology (he tells us he makes a mean Old Fashioned), is a keen musician, playing the piano, guitar and drums (alas, not all at the same time, although he does occasionally try) and has spent the past 8 years trying to write a book. He expects that at some point in the next 8 years he might even finish it.
Profile
Michael is a senior, commercially aware finance lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience in real estate finance, corporate trustee default work and general real estate. A problem solver, he is comfortable with providing advice to stakeholders at board level and across the business, and with facilitating business decisions.
Michael’s career has spanned the entire spectrum of real estate lending transactions, from origination, to servicing, to refinance and restructure. His practice has encompassed both investment and development work, much of which has involved complex cross border arrangements, intercreditor issues and corporate structures.
His corporate trustee work has included acting for BNY Mellon as trustee in relation to the close out of the $11 billion Dante MISOP following the collapse of Lehman Brothers, as well as for Wilmington as trustee in relation to the Thomas Cook insolvency.
